Client Story “I am managing consistently 6 months down the line which is nothing short of a miracle”

I came across Tegan on Tiktok when I was researching an anti inflammatory diet in 2022 and instantly knew I wanted to work with her – my gut is never wrong on this kind of stuff. I sat on it for a while as there was a lot going on but when I did decide to go for it, I was an absolute mess. I had been through a bereavement of someone very close to me, was in a job I hated and was knackered, stressed and miserable. My eating was appalling, I had been a carer for my family member and one of the things that I did was make all of their meals and cooking was something I had little interest in after they had passed away. I was living off takeaways and convenience foods and I had a real issue with going into supermarkets because of the anxiety I was carrying with me. All of this was further compounded by the fact that I am in England, in the complete opposite time zone to Tegan – my day is her night.

None of this phased Tegan, she took all of this in her stride and created a plan for me that took into account all of the barriers that were stopping me from looking after myself properly. The meal plans created a lot of meals which were done in one pot, in the slow cooker or pressure cooker, which made them really easy to make with not a lot of utensils / washing up. She tweaked some things that I already loved to eat and it was so easy to make those changes. I’ve got ADHD and Autism so I tend not have a wide range of meals that I eat at the best of times but I’ve really stuck with these recipes and they are so tasty its never a chore to make them. She also recommended supplements and researched the best places to buy them in the UK which I didn’t expect her to do but was really helpful too.

She’s really knowledgeable about nutrition but also about women’s bodies in general – I have thyroid issues and am skirting around the menopause and she took all of that into account when coming up with the plan. My GP rolls his eyes if I mention things like adrenal fatigue and high cortisol but women know that this stuff is real and there’s a real lack of understanding within the medical community of the impact it has on us for most of our adult lives. It would be really different if men had to deal with the impact our reproductive systems have on us. Tegan knows her stuff around this and the plan has also helped to regulate not only that but my ADHD because nutrition is such an important part of the treatment for that but of course ADHD means it’s really hard to do.

In terms of consistency, I’m fully aware that I’m a nightmare client and we stopped and started a couple of times as other situations developed around me and I’ve adapted almost everything Tegan has given to me. If Tegan found me frustrating (which any sane person would), she didn’t show it. It has been somewhat of an annus horribilis for me but Tegan roiled with the punches and me half following her advice in my own chaotic way an she has made the most incredible difference in my life and she has achieved the impossible for me. I’ve started slowly and worked my way towards the changes, and I will continue to do that using the plan Tegan set for me. I’m always on to the next new thing but this has been around consistently since we first started in March which is absolutely massive for me. In terms of what’s changed – here’s the list:

  • My digestive system has seen massive improvements because I am eating much less processed food and cooking from scratch instead of hopping onto Deliveroo and Just Eat

  • I’ve lost weight – about a stone and a half, I’m sleeping better, I don’t feel exhausted and half dead anymore, my skin is better and I just feel “well”.

  • I’ve reduced my stress so I’m sleeping better, and Tegan gave me some advice about my morning routine which has drastically improved my sleep pattern and morning productivity.

  • In terms of activity, I’ve got myself back up to 10,000 steps a day – in March I was doing about 3k steps a day – and I’m getting myself back into the gym and doing the Pilates workouts that Tegan offers which are ideal for beginning and then working your way into more advanced workouts.

  • Because of the supplements and research Tegan did for me, my periods are no longer as painful and the PMT has almost disappeared, when that’s usually taken at least a week of my life every month since I was 14.

  • I feel a lot happier and lighter and more positive about the future.

Part of the reason I knew I wanted to work with Tegan is because she seemed really lovely and I wasn’t wrong – she’s been incredibly kind and supportive throughout everything and she’s a big part of the reason I’ve been able to get to a place where this is now my routine. We’ve all had experiences with PT’s, slimming clubs and nutritionists who prescribe massive change and then refuse to understand why it’s so hard to make lots of changes all at once in among a busy life or how sometimes even if you can stick to 1200 calories a day and workout 3 hours a day you still can’t lose any weight because of your hormones. They roll their eyes, sigh and judge and you feel so demoralised you crack and get a Chinese, and then it’s downhill all the way. You just act confused and lie you’ve been sticking to it faithfully when you’ve somehow put weight on. I would have just told Tegan lies that I was doing it properly if I hadn’t felt able to talk to her and tell her the truth but her understanding and support meant I could be really honest and a slip never felt like that there was no way back.

The long and the short of it is Tegan has helped me to build new routines into my life which I am managing consistently 6 months down the line which is nothing short of a miracle. I have done these types of things so many times before but this plan has got me to make changes which are now my routine (which is really hard to do when you have ADHD) and helped me build my life back up from the seismic changes which have happed to me over the last 12 months. If you’re thinking about working with Tegan but aren’t 100% sure – DO IT!!! You won’t regret it.
