Breaking Free from the Diet Mindset: Celebrating Women's Health and Empowerment on International Women's Day

International Women's Day is a time to celebrate the incredible achievements of women around the world and to reflect on the ongoing struggle for gender equality. From voting rights to workplace discrimination, women have faced and continue to face numerous challenges. However, this year, I want to focus on a particular aspect of women's lives that is often overlooked: their health and mindset.

Over the past few years, I have seen more and more women coming to me with a desire to break free from the harmful "diet mindset" that has been so pervasive in our culture. These women are tired of being told that their worth is determined by the number on the scale and are prioritizing things like their mental health, energy, and sleep over their appearance.

This shift in mindset is long overdue. For too long, women have been bombarded with messages that their bodies are not good enough and that they must constantly strive to achieve an impossible standard of beauty. This has led to a myriad of health problems, including disordered eating, low self-esteem, and even depression.

But now, women are pushing back against this harmful narrative. They are recognising that their bodies are more than just a number on a scale and are embracing a holistic approach to health that focuses on nourishing their minds, bodies, and souls.

From prioritising self-care to engaging in regular exercise, these women are taking control of their health and wellbeing. They are recognising that their mental health is just as important as their physical health and are seeking out resources to help them manage stress and anxiety.

This shift in mindset is not only good for women individually, but it is also good for society as a whole. When women are healthy and empowered, they are better able to contribute to their communities and to the world around them.

So, on this International Women's Day, let us celebrate the women who are pushing back against harmful diet culture and prioritising their health and wellbeing. Let us honor their strength and resilience and support them in their journey towards self-love and acceptance. Together, we can create a world where women are valued for who they are, not just what they look like.
